Prior to moving from our factory in Leith to our new factory in West Craigs Quarry, we had a free-standing balcony prototype which we had been using as a demonstration unit. It sat outside our premises where it could be seen by the public. We had decided not to take it with us to our new factory so when Summerside Kindergarten asked about buying the balcony, we knew it could be an opportunity to give back to the local community where we had been located for over 80 years.
We decided to refurbish the balcony and donate it to the Nursery. We also delivered it and fitted it free of charge.
Nicky Wright, the Nursery Manager at Summerside Kindergarten & Pre-School sent a note saying,
On behalf of the staff, children and families from Summerside Kindergarten we would like to thank you for the balcony donated and fitted from Blakes.
This generous donation has proved to benefit the children to develop a further understanding of outdoor play.
