Blake Group, have been heavily involved in many aspects of the steel construction for the Forth Replacement Crossing. The first aspects of the project with which we were instructed were the construction of aggregate stores and manufacture of the fuelling station for construction vehicles.
Stuart Cunningham, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors stated:-
“FCBC has been working together with Blake Group over the past 3 years completing various steelworks packages on all areas of the project, as well as providing labour only welders when required to do so by FCBC. Blake Group’s current subcontract orders for the Project are in the region of £1m and throughout working on the Forth Replacement Crossing they have shown excellent commitment to quality and performance.
Blake Group has acted diligently and professional throughout being on the Forth Replacement Crossing completing their works on time and to a consistent high standard. As a result a close working relationship has been built between both parties and Blake Group continue to tender and complete works for FCBC”.

Luddon Construction commissioned Blakes to manufacture and install a variety of storage tanks as part of the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Longstone Bus Depot for Lothian Buses. ‘Lothian Buses have used James Blake & Co. as one of our preferred contractors for the past twenty years.
During this time they have supplied our wide and varied storage tank requirements, fabricating bespoke units from 1000Lts to 100,000Lts.
Their design and fitting teams are always on hand to advise and deal with problem installation areas of which we have had more than our fair share.
Blakes are also pro-active in keeping us up to date with any changes in environmental and oil storage legislation which would have an effect on our business.
Overall James Blake & Co. are a competent professional and trustworthy company who I would have no hesitation in recommending as a prospective contractor’.

Over recent years, Blakes have supplied storage tanks to a number of DRS depots, most recently in summer 2014, a 100,000L dual pump diesel tank to serve both road and rail equipment at Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Neil White, Project Manager Civils, Direct Rail Services (DRS);
‘I am pleased to let you know that Blakes offer an excellent service. When requesting quotes for tanks the staff go that extra mile to get the paperwork complete and communicate throughout the process. When the orders are raised the work is planned and all targets are met. The staff also help with the after sales services when any issue or queries arise after the installation. My first thought when I am asked to carry out any fuel or oil projects is to contact Blakes for their professional advice’.

Converted Containers for Site Use
Blake’s Tank Division is increasingly being asked to acquire and convert storage containers for a variety of uses. Orders have recently been received from energy, generator hire, construction and logistics companies as well as forestry and rural estate interests.
These flexible units can provide secure, mobile accommodation for a variety of uses including containerised fuel storage, onsite offices, plant and bio-mass housing and lend themselves particularly well to providing security in remote and unsecure environments in a very cost efficient manner.
The units can be designed and converted to meet the particular needs of an intended use and/or location, but also offer the benefit of being fully mobile to allow easy relocation from one project to the next.
