Richard Murphy’s Hart Street home is currently featuring on Channel 4’s Grand Designs in the quest to find the RIBA House of the Year. Richard started on the project 9 years ago and the property draws much attention due to the innovative use of tricks he employs to both draw in more sunlight and create a cosy winter abode. Richard himself refers to it as his ‘Wallace and Gromit box of tricks’. Features include a snug outside courtyard, library with sliding ladder, bath hidden underneath a ‘bench’ in the master bedroom and a variety of openings in the most unexpected places.
Blake Group and Richard have worked closely on many aspects of the house with Blake’s contributing to the variety of quirky design elements as requested and designed by Richard.
The house on Hart Street featured on the programme on 1st December, has been shortlisted and will feature again on 15 December! Tune in and keep your fingers crossed for Richard. We know we are!
