The British Standards Institute, have released a further e-notification to members on the mandatory requirement for CE Marking on any construction structural steel.
Since the changes; Structural Steelwork and aluminium now fall under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) which means CE marking must be secured to show compliance with EN 1090-1.
This covers any structural component that has been designed and fabricated to meet BS EN 1991 series of standards (Eurocode 3 and 9) for steel and aluminium structures in buildings. You need to show that they comply with EN 1090-1, and as a Notified Body we can help you to achieve this.
Regular recipients of our newsletter ‘The Metal Centre’ will be familiar with the issue of CE Marking for steelwork, if perhaps not the detail. Please visit the recently revised CE Marking section of our website, where we provide the legislative requirements now enacted on the engineering and construction sectors and BSI’s clarification of the scope of EN 1090-1.
