From Steel Frames To Waterfalls at Gardening Scotland 2010

The Metal Centre, Scotland’s leading steels trade counter and manufacturer of steel products to Scotland’s horticultural and landscaping industry is proud to announce its support for two of Gardening Scotland’s prize show gardens at this year’s event.

Firstly, hot on the heels of the Chelsea Flower Show last week where The Metal Centre clients the Scottish Agricultural Society (SAC) won a Silver Medal for their 21st century croft garden, the company is proud to announce its support in the project with the provision of the bespoke rill which has been incorporated as a water feature within the natural design.

Commenting on the SAC garden and The Metal Centre rill, SAC Project Coordinator Calum Buchanan stated, “Our design incorporates modern lines and technology within the natural landscape bringing ancient traditions comfortably into the 21st century whilst retaining their unique appeal.  Native planting, the bespoke water rill and insect homes provide ideal conditions for birds and insects, including the bees from the croft’s hive.  Thanks to The Metal Centre for a great job on the rill which is one of our more complicated elements, it fitted perfectly and was exactly what we had hoped for.”

Secondly, Water Gems, 2009′s BALI Natural Landscape Award Winners and one of Scotland’s top specialist designers and builders of public and private water-related work enlisted the help of The Metal Centre for a crucial structural steel frame that their 2010 Gardening Scotland design would rest on.

Nick Benge, Managing Director of Water Gems added, “Our ‘Reinforcing Nature’ show garden at Gardening Scotland blends original innovative design and vision with beautiful planting from garden designer Carolyn Grohmann of Secret Gardens.”

“With a significant amount of steelwork in this particular project it was reassuring to have The Metal Centre on hand to provide the heavy structural steel required as well as bordering and smaller angles.  The support frame fitted perfectly and the overall result of the Water Gems team and Carolyn’s efforts is truly stunning!”
