CE DAY 1 JULY 2014
ARE YOU BREAKING THE LAW?
CE MARKING WAS INTRODUCED ON ALL STRUCTURAL STEELWORK 01/07/14!
Put simply, after 1st July 2014, all primary and secondary steel and metal work used in construction requires CE Certification from a CE Accredited manufacturer and contractor.
This affects every construction project from a simple domestic house extension to the Forth Replacement Crossing!
Blake Group received CE certification and accreditation in April this year.
Our CE Certificates are available to inspect at the Metal Centres and head office. This has significant legislative and practical implications for all construction related steel and metalwork, from a simple welded plate to balconies, balustrades and other structural and architectural steelwork. All steelwork for construction projects will require to be produced, supplied and fitted in accordance with the procedures of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 2013. The regulation states that all construction products are within a scope of European Norm (EN 1090) and have to be CE Marked.
This has massive consequences for the engineering and construction sectors as a whole, as it would appear the vast majority of steelwork contractors will not be correctly certified to provide manufactured steel products to the construction industry post 1st July 2014!
COMPLIANCE WITH THE CPR AND CE MARKING
All steelwork contractors must provide the three following documents to satisfy compliance on any job:-
3). Declaration of Performance (DoP)
Blake’s Certification for FPC and welding are attached above and a DoP is produced for every fabrication project.
IT IS THE LEGAL OBLIGATION OF THE CUSTOMER OR MAIN CONTRACTOR ENGAGING A STEELWORK CONTRACTOR TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE BEFORE ANY APPOINTMENT ON THE DELIVERY OF FABRICATED STEELWORK AFTER 1 JULY 2014!
Please contact us to discuss further and to ensure that your project is fully compliant!
