The firm is a leading figure within the engineering and steel manufacturing industry and has supplied products and services on and off-shore throughout the EMEA Region.
Thought leaders in the field of oil storage, Blake Group spearheads industry delegations shaping policy at senior level. It is a member of Oil Firing Technical Institute for the Petroleum Industry (OFTEC), the Energy Institute (formerly Institute of Petroleum) (EI), Association for Petroleum and Explosives Administration (APEA) and the British Standards Institute(BSi).
As expert witnesses, the firm has acted as lead consultants to the Government, DEFRA, OFTEC and the British Standards Institute on oil storage regulations and works closely with both the Environment Agency (EA) and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) educating industries on “Best Practice” procedures in the storage of oil.
Following the publication of the Control of Pollution Regulations (Oil Storage)(England) 2001, Blake Group successfully led an industry consortium consisting of major oil companies, the UK’s automotive industry and leading generator companies to both the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Environment Agency (EA) to review the implications of the Regulations and how it impacted on industry. Additionally, Blake Group plays an integral part producing Water Industry Mechanical & Electrical Specifications (WIMES) a key water industry specification model.
Representing the Energy Institute (EI), Blake Group sits on British Standards RHE13 Committee which in April 2010 reviewed BS799 Part5 the British Standard for single walled tanks and specification for primary tanks in integrally-bunded (double-walled) tanks.
